February is a great month! We love the snow and look forward to spring with lots of excitement in 2013. We are grateful for the projects of 2012 and wanted to share a few of the happenings on some incredible projects. At CSG no project is too small and we always take the time to listen to every customer.
In August, we were wrapping up Aggie Legacy Fields and getting ready for the inaugural season. The Aggie Legacy Fields is a 5-acre multi-purpose turf athletic field complex. The fields have the capacity to host numerous recreational and sporting events for students. The site around the fields was designed to be like a park on campus with trees, berming, landscape, custom seating, and entrances.
Civil Solutions Group has been working with North Logan City for nearly 2 years in the development of a new form-based code for the City Center and City Center Master Plan. During 2012 we had the opportunity to participate and lead in planning workshops for the public, citizen committees, and city government. Planning the future of a mixed-use city center and surrounding neighborhoods is no simple task. We listened to concerns, made adjustments, worked out compromises, and developed a solution with a vision. The new city center code was adopted in December 2012 and the City Center Plan was released in January 2013.
Civil Solutions Group was selected to be part of a comprehensive team for the new Strength and Conditioning Building for the Athletics Department. CSG was responsible for all civil work on the project. Some of the unique challenges included compact to design due to the nature of the site, handling stormwater on-site, and integrating the building and site into the hillside. CSG worked as part of AJC’s team.
In August 2012, the Uintah County Library (Vernal) celebrated its grand opening. This project demonstrated CSG’s ability to develop a creative site plan that works with architecture and creates a beautiful landscape that meets the demanding needs of civil engineering. The site was designed to handle stormwater first on-site using bio-swales and plants, with a basin for a backup plan to meet jurisdictional needs. During the demolition and excavation phase, the contractor stored many large boulders on site. CSG carefully selected the boulders and designed their location in the landscape. CSG worked with JWL Architecture and Babcock Design Group to develop a great learning environment.
Brookside Meadows is a mixed residential community that was planned and approved in 2012 and will begin construction in 2013. This plan represents the specific nature of Logan City’s form-based code. The smart growth community has numerous housing types, deals with stormwater using bioswales, and the heart of the neighborhood is a future pocket park.
Mendon Veterans Memorial was a fun, little design project all about creating the right site and gathering place for the people of Mendon to celebrate their veterans. The site was carefully designed to capture views of the mountains and create the setting for the stone art which has engraved the soldiers from Mendon. Civil Solutions Group was grateful for the opportunity to design a location to celebrate our freedom and liberty.
