Job Description

The Geotechnical Engineer will manage and oversee all geotechnical activities within a small department, combining technical and managerial duties. This includes leading a team, conducting site investigations, soil testing and foundation design. The Geotechnical Engineer will ensure projects are completed efficiently, on budget, and in compliance with industry standards.

 

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the preparation and final project plans
  • Helps manage client expectations related to costs and schedules with the Project Manager
  • Conducts or acquires cost analysis for development projects; prepares or delegates preparation of schedule of project completion dates
  • Ensures that projects are completed within budget and on time
  • Implements the strategic direction of the organization’s engineering and development initiatives
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new technologies and systems to improve organizational processes and decision-making
  • Responsible for project design and quality control
  • Establishes and administers the department’s budget
  • Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community
  • Coordinates or conducts field work
  • Maintain equipment 
  • Coordinate lab testing schedules coordinate blue stakes
  • Coordinate property access
  • Reviews and/or summary reports
  • Coordinate and or conduct construction observations/issues

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and procedures
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficient with geotechnical analysis and related software
  • Ability to work independently
  • Professional Licensure
